Smoke Alarms Installation
Interlinked Wireless Smoke & Heart Alarms
Smoke inhalation is the primary cause of death in over 90% of fire deaths.
Early detection and warning - through an interlinked alarm system - is vital to increasing chances of survival.
Statistically majority of accidental fires in dwellings are from:
- Cooking appliances
- Smoking related
- Candles
- Electrical Supply
- Domestic Appliances
On average (as of 2018) 30% of fires started in a living room, 17% in bedrooms and only 15% in kitchens.
As these new figures have emerged, its shown the increase of fires started in living areas has contributed greatly to deaths in residential premises.
These results highlight the importance of catching fires quickly and raising the alarm as while the fire is still in its early stages.
Smoke & Heat Alarm Regulations
From this research, the Scottish Government has made these fire requirements in domestic premises mandatory:
- Living room to be fitted with 1 smoke alarm
- Kitchen to be fitted with heat alarm
- Circulation spaces outside rooms and bedrooms (such as hallway and landings on each level) to be fitted with at least 1 smoke alarm
- All alarms interlinked so one detector triggered causes the whole system alarm to activate
Legal Requirement
These standards have now been passed as law - if you don’t have a setup in place by February 2022, your system is illegal and you can be fined.
Quality Assured
We only install high quality alarms that have proven under a testing environment and activate and signal all the smoke and heat detectors at the same time, which sounds the alarm throughout your property.
How many alarms you require is dependant on the size of your property, but rest assured all factors are considered while designing the system.
Interlinked smoke, heat and carbon installations have proven dangers discovered far quicker at alerting occupants has resulted in reduced fatality rates.
Being able to act as fast as possible, especially under unknown circumstances, such as children accidentally causing a fire - can allow you to get them to safety as soon as possible.
